Cherokee Indians

Portrait of Marcia Pascal, a young Cherokee woman, USA, 1880. Source: Glass Negatives of Indians (Collected by the Bureau of American Ethnology)

I found this particular young woman to be not only beautiful, but very modern looking, she looks as if she belongs in the 21st century...when I first saw her, I thought she was a modern day girl who simply dressed up in the clothes as a costume prop.

I don't know the story on this lady and child,
but the child doesn't want their photo take it seems...
I'm sure this was a frighting event for them to be photographed
because it was possibly the only photo of their lives.

Her story is also a mystery...but photo reveals some things to the eyes.
She looks healthy and happy with beautiful hair braids.
The baby is adorable, almost looks like a 'Anne Geddes' Photography session.

This outfit is amazing...so much detail and texture.
